Colbrelli grapes the bike again
The Italian collapsed on March 21 after the opening stage of the Catalonia Tour in Spain due to heart problems at the finish line and collapsed. He had been given medical care immediately, and after more detailed tests it was decided that a defibrillator had to be used to the 32-year-old.
A good month after the procedure, Colbrelli feels back on the bike. As his team Bahrain-Victorious announced, the current Italian champion is fit enough to record "leisure trips and light physical activities". According to this, Collbrelli underwent further sports medical tests at the University of Padua after the successful intervention on March 31. These "have shown a further improvement in cardiovascular health", whereupon Colbrelli got the green light.
Bahrain-Victorious did not say whether, and if so, when Colbrelli can start again with professional cycling. At the moment "the continuous monitoring of his condition in the coming months is primarily." Colbrelli had given his racing comeback on the tour of the Catalonia after a three-week break due to bronchitis.
