Call of Duty League sets a new viewer record with CDL Stage 1 Major
The Call of Duty League Season 2022 is now in full swing and the players just ended their participation in the first LAN tournament of the year: CDL Major 1. Host Optic Texas ended the tournament with a triumphal 5: 2 final victory over the reigning CDL Master Atlanta Faze and the audience numbers of the tournament are just as impressive as the final itself.
Daniel Tsay, General Manager of Call of Duty Esports, has announced that the tournament reached its climax with around 186,000 spectators and to see 143,000 spectators on day 4 of the tournament. This makes it the most viewed Major in the history of the Call of Duty League.
Despite the reported somewhat lower audience numbers, the fans attributed to the fact that it only pursues the official YouTube channel traffic, sports charts shows that Major 1 of 2022 reached at least 20,000 viewers more than Major 3 of 2021, which is the second most frequent Was seen.
Although these numbers are impressive, they are still put into shadows from the biggest events in the Call of Duty calendar. The Call of Duty World League championship competitions for 2018 and 2019 as well as the CDL championships of 2020 and 2021 have all higher peak zooming numbers - according to sports charts.
Since Optic Texas and Atlanta FAZen are both strongly represented in the most-viewed games of the tournament, the next challenge for the Call of Duty League is whether they can maintain these high spectators in the course of the season and play with the draw of these two teams. Traditionally, the audience numbers dwindle during the season - but it does not speak for the 2022 season to break more records when looking at how she started.
