Survival Horror Monsstrum gets a physical liberation
There has been a big change in recent years in the genus Survival Horror. Rather than the classic formula where you can fight effectively against your enemies, many games nowadays adopt a more stealthy model. The fight is either badly notified or impossible, or there may be a single indestructible enemy mixed with cannon flesh. We insist more on the stealthy avoidance of the fighting, and it is done for some of the most intense games of the genre, as Alien: insulation or amnesia: The Dark descent.
Monstrum borrows from these games. You wake up in a sorry ship hunted by one of the three unique monsters: the fiery raw, the telekineous demon or the stealth hunter. The entire set is generated procedurally, there is therefore not two identical parts, and there is also no backup function either; The game uses permanent death, so if you are dead, you have to start again on a new ship, perhaps driven by a new monster.
Your only goal is to escape, but given the environments generated randomly, the way you choose to do it changes from one game to another. There are three different evacuation routes that need to be repaired, and the necessary items for everyone could be anywhere on the vast cargo ship. Is it worth wasting time looking for the items you need to repair the helicopter or try to find the rescue raft as you already have everything you need?
The game was a great success on Steam, with a very positive note based on nearly 2000 reviews, there is no doubt that many console players who did not have the chance to download the game will find a lot to love when monstrum will arrive. Shelves on September 25th.
