Suicide Squad includes a surprising Easter egg video game
Of James Gunn The Squadron Suicide has been in the cinemas and in HBO Max for a few weeks, and the spectators are still discovering new Easter eggs hidden in the film. One, however, seems to have escaped the attention of most fans! WARNING: Spoilers forward. During a film scene, Harley Quinn from Margot Robbie escapes from her captors in short Maltese. During the sequence, Harley kills dozens of enemies, while flowers and animated animals swirling through the room. In an interview with Coliser, Gunn reveals that this sequence of Harley-Vision was actually inspired by a game in which he worked with Suda51: Motosierra de paleta.
I made a video game called Motosierra de paleta, and I always loved the kind of ... In that game, I did with Suda in Japan, I always loved the way the hearts and small beautiful things came out of the people mixed with blood, he said Gunn to Collider. Then, a lot of that goes back to that, the aesthetics of mixing this horrible blood with the way of looking at Harley's life with starry eyes and basically creating Harley's vision. Then that was something that arose very early. It was in the first draft of the script.
Motos saw palette launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. In the game, players control Juliet Starling, a high school cheerleader who is also a family of zombies hunters. The game presented exaggerated violence mixed with bright and cheerful images, including lollipop recovery elements. While the game was a great success for the Developer Grasshopper Manufacture, it can not be reproduced in the current consoles. Despite requests for the game to be compatible with earlier versions of the current Xbox platforms. Perhaps his influence on The Squadron Suicide will lead to a re-launch!
Interesting enough, Motosierra de paleta is not the only video game that inspired Gunn in _The suicidal squad. In June, Gunn revealed that Harley Quinn's design in the film was specifically inspired on her appearance in Batman Games: Arkham. Fortunately, those games are still much easier to enjoy for players in current and next-generation systems.
