Is it possible to play Pokémon Unite with a GameCube controller

Pokémon clubs has really conquered the Moba landscape in the storm, was at the top of the Twitch charts for a while and has succumbed to much good and bad press on the side. The game would best be categorized as the perfect Moba for the beginning. I would call it almost Moba-Lite, but Pokémon Unite has all the main elements of the genre.

The game was first published on the Nintendo Switch on July 21st. I always wondered how to play the game best. Would it be in handheld mode? Are you playing the game docked with Joy-Cons on Joy-Con handle? With a Professional Controller? How about a standard GameCube controller, which is hooked in the adapter?

Can you actually play Pokémon Unite with a GameCube controller?

_The short answer is yes, but to some extent. The game accepts an attached Gamecube controller with the adapter, but recognizes it like a pro controller. The layout assumes that it has all the functions and buttons of a pro controller. This means that it is assumed that there is a second Z key and clickable sticks.

Pokémon Unite is PAY TO WIN and it's Disgusting. The Gamecube controller may perhaps one of the timeless pieces of the Nintendo hardware, but he does not come without his reservations transferred to modern gaming. I actually played a few games with it and showed pretty good performance. Damn, I have made a few victories on the way. Although the game with this controller is very well playable, but some smaller adjustments must be made to play optimally.

The standard controller scheme for the game provides that the players use the shoulder and trigger keys as part of their movements. The original binding for the Unite Move is ZL, a key that does not have the normal Gamecube controller. You can use the Show map (L) button so that there is now a bound option for it.

With this little solution, you can play Pokémon Unite without any problems. However, you will miss functions such as the display of the card, checking the mini card and displaying details of other players who defeat them in the middle of a game. Who is not completely on board when playing with Joy-cons due to potential drift problems in the future, for which the Gamecube controller is a passable alternative, but I would recommend that you simply play the game with current hardware that can be played over all the features has.
